- Description
- A seemingly ever-changing, growing, memorial to the 22 people killed in the Manchester Arena Bombing. Located within the station, which is attached to, and from where there is access to, the Arena. The memorial has developed from being the place where flowers and other objects of remembrance were laid immediately after the bombing, and is now Northern Rail's permanent memorial site to the incident.
The permanent features, as of June 2021, consist of: a small brass plaque on a wooden base, carrying a whitened enamel inscription; some paper works of art attached to a pillar, executed by an artist known as Loveartpix (Des); a framed white ceramic mosaic decorated with red hearts bearing the forenames of the 22 killed, and a black inscription; a wooden inscribed bench; an artificial white cherry blossom tree; pictures of those killed displayed on the pillar and on display stands, which also carry poems and dedications. In addition, there are family mementoes piled up within the memorial area.
